Mäpt Zent-kérälï (/zent/ /xræ̝ˈlɪ/ [evil] [study]) is a temperate Small Town located in the Vejkzmekáf Principality of the Koiapian City-state.

The name Mäpt Zent-kérälï is derived from the Gnollish language, as Mäpt Zent-kérälï was founded by Tubuir vyim Glə˞tunk, who was culturaly Gnollish.

Climate

Mäpt Zent-kérälï has a yearly average temperature of 8°C (46°F), with its average temperature during the summer being a cold 7°C (44°F) and its average temperature during the winter being a cold 9°C (48°F). Mäpt Zent-kérälï receives an average of 245 cm/y (96 in/y) of precipitation, most of which comes in the form of snow during the pleasantly short winter months. Mäpt Zent-kérälï covers an area of nearly 4 km2 (1 mi2), and an average elevation of 2670 m (8759 ft) above sea level.

Overview

Mäpt Zent-kérälï was founded durring the early 17th century in early fall of the year 1608, by Tubuir vyim Glə˞tunk. The establishment of the new community went well, with no major obsticles durring construction.

Mäpt Zent-kérälï was built using the conventions of Gnollish durring the early 17th century. Naturaly, all settlmentss have their own look to them, and Mäpt Zent-kérälï is no diffrent. The town's buildings feature waddle and daub construction with good timber frames and a stone foundation protected by thatched or shingled rooves. Most buildings with second floors are built in such a way as to overhang into the streets on the upper floors for more space, as building size seems to be the primary indicator of wealth within the community. Most buildings are not decorated with any integral features, but instead use ivy, flowers, and other natural elements in planters of on trellices to breathe life into the structure they grow upon.

Mäpt Zent-kérälï is buildings are speckled and packed arround narrow carved bedrock streets with seemingly no patern to them. It appears as if the town's residents simply built streets as they pleased and squeazed buildings in wherever and howeave rpossible, creating an organic, frustrating to navigate, maze of a town. The town is protected by a well-crafted cobblestone fence tall enough to provide adiquite cover for defenders to fire from, but no more than that. Unfortuantly, these frontieer-style defences are in extreem disrepair, so much so that one cannot tell if they are decaying from a lack of mantance or damage incured.

Right off the bat Mäpt Zent-kérälï hits you in the face with its success. Everyone, even the peasants, are dressed in well made clothing. Every tool and implement you can see is finely made, and people will boast to you as obvious strangers of the wonders which can be found in their markets. More interestingly is a total lack of beggars, and plenty of new buildings are going up even as you speak. Many of those buildings are schools, scriptoriums, and even one college. One can only wonder what knowledge the town has come into.

Civic Infrastructure

Mäpt Zent-kérälï has an animal control department which works to enforce local ordinances relating to the control, impoundment, and disposition of animals.

Mäpt Zent-kérälï has an Office of Civil Vicary, which is responsible for providing a livelyhood for all officialy recognised religious figures within Mäpt Zent-kérälï.

Mäpt Zent-kérälï has a Gravedigger's Guild, which is responsible for collecting the dead and laying them to rest according to all applicable laws and religious customs.

Mäpt Zent-kérälï has a Hall of Slayers, which is tasked with maintaining the roads and highways leading into town as well as keeping them safe for travelers.

Mäpt Zent-kérälï has a monistary of an order of Civil Monks, who provide divine-related services to the general public and maintain Mäpt Zent-kérälï's public wards, blessings, and other arcane systems.

Mäpt Zent-kérälï has a Parks and Recreation Department, which is responsible for the construction, management, and usage rights for all of its parks and parklands.

Mäpt Zent-kérälï has a public schooling program overseen by the Hall of Sages who has the responsibility of ensuring access to affordable high-quality education in all basic classes (Reading, Writing, Mathmatics, General Sciences, General Arcana, and Social Education) is made available to all citizens.

Cultural Notes

The locals are in a state of despair and dull apathy. They've lost the things that used to give them pride and hope, with the best among them carrying on out of habitual duty and the worst giving ready hands to shameful deeds and ignoble acts. No one really believes the future can be better, and most seek only to satisfy immediate appetites.

Mäpt Zent-kérälï's mayor's house was built using a different architectural style from the rest of the town. The style used is known for its fluid and florid elaborate style, comprising ornate, asymmetric designs and pastel shades. It is often considered to be a playful, light style, which made exuberant use of curves and emphasized subtle asymmetry in the general shape of its structures. Walls, ceilings and moldings are decorated with numerous interlacing of curves and counter-curves based on the shapes of ‘C’ and ‘S’, along with shell forms and other naturalistic shapes.

In Mäpt Zent-kérälï sometimes, near one of the seasonal solstices, the sun appears to split into three and it rains from a clear sky for several hours.

The Rat near Mäpt Zent-kérälï are known to be quite timid.

Mäpt Zent-kérälï's citizens partake in a curious ritual relating to their local kami. It takes place in summer and involves sacrificing an animal to channel Truename Magic energies of tier 3 via chanting.
